Benefits of Treating Eye Misalignment with Neurolens

Eye misalignment, known as Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD), is a common vision problem. This vision complication occurs when the two eyes have difficulty working together as a team to create one clear image. This results in image misalignment. The body attempts to correct this vision misalignment by overusing and severely straining the eye muscles. Broadway Eye Clinic is a top-notch eye clinic serving Salt Lake City, Utah. Our optometrist is experienced in treating BVD. Here’s a breakdown of Binocular Vision Dysfunction and the benefits of treating the misalignment with Neurolens.

What’s Neurolens?

Neurolens is a two-set innovative vision technology, a measurement device and advanced prism optic lenses. Firstly, the Neurolens measurement device helps an optometrist diagnose vision misalignment and establish whether the Neurolens prism optic lenses may help correct misalignment. Secondly, the Neurolens advanced prism optic lenses are corrective lenses that feature next-level prism optics. These corrective lenses work to minimize and eliminate symptoms of visual misalignments, such as chronic headaches from eye strain.

How Neurolens Work

Neurolens corrective lenses are designed to mend the issues relating to the trigeminal nerve in the eye. The trigeminal nerve is connected to the eyes, and if your eyes are misaligned, it places abnormal pressure on the nerve. This abnormal pressure results in eye strain, headaches, and tension in the muscles surrounding the eyes.

The Neurolens measurement device can detect possible vision misalignment and the extent of the misalignment. The eye doctor will use these measurements to determine the specifics of your contoured prescription. The prisms work by bending light in a way that counterbalances the eye misalignment caused by the weakness in the muscles around your eyes.

Each of your eyes is surrounded by six muscles. It only takes weakness in one of these muscles for your eyes to become misaligned. When the misalignment is severe, it causes double imagery or double vision. However, in most cases, the misalignment is very subtle, historically making it difficult to identify. Even when the misalignment is small and physically unnoticeable, the symptoms can be debilitating. The Neurolens advance prism optic lenses help to correct binocular vision disorder,  thereby ensuring that you see one clear picture.

Benefits of Neurolens

Neurolens corrective lenses have numerous benefits, some extending beyond vision. These benefits include:

  • Alleviates repeated migraines and headaches associated with eye strain
  • Lessens dry eye symptoms such as stinging, burning or watery eyes
  • Alleviates light sensitivity
  • Alleviates neck and shoulder pain related to BVD
  • Lessens symptoms of motion sickness or dizziness
